The Abruzzi land

Parks and nature

Abruzzo is known as the green region of Europe because over a third of its surface area is protected.

Bears and chamois inhabit its famous National Park. Between the high peaks of the Gran Sasso, Majella and Velino mountains and the golden coastline, the nature of Abruzzo forms a picture of great variety and charm, which can be appreciated at any time of the year.

Thanks to a dense network of reserves and nature reserves, the natural environment of Abruzzo is now adequately protected and can be easily visited by both individual enthusiasts and organised groups.

Churches and monuments

Churches, monuments, necropolises, museums, hermitages and fortified villages are scattered throughout the hilly landscapes of Abruzzo, always easily accessible from any location.

Alongside famous monuments and collections such as S.Maria di Collemaggio, the ancient streets of Scanno, the National Archaeological Museum of Chieti and Rocca Calascio, dozens of lesser-known wonders, scattered throughout every corner of the region, thrill tourists.

Abruzzo was the birthplace of the poet D'Annunzio, writers and philosophers such as Silone and Croce, painters such as Michetti, Palizzi and Cascella, and many other artists.

One cannot forget the historical and cultural treasures of Atri, the prestigious ceramics of Castelli and the places of worship that have always characterised our history, among the most representative of which are the Sanctuary of San Gabriele and the Holy Stairs of Campli, where it is still possible to obtain a plenary indulgence today.

Martinsicuro by bicycle

Martinsicuro has a cycle path that starts at the border with the Marche region and runs continuously along the seafront to Roseto degli Abruzzi. Within a few years, the ‘Bike to coast’ project will be completed, making it possible to cycle along the entire Abruzzo coastline, thus creating the longest cycle route in Europe.
